By: H.B.

Have you ever wanted to ask a question yet was afraid of the answer that you may have received? Have you ever wanted the power to hope, but deep down was too scared to believe? Have you ever needed someone who you could depend on or the simple comfort of someone to call a friend? Have you ever wanted the unknown such as a person you've never known? But through words you have grown a bond that should never have been sewn? Does our differences descend robbing us of the opportunity to begin? Something new or even true with me is where it begins with <you> is where it ends!

Mystery

By: H.B.

What do you do,
When the attraction is true?
And though his options ain't plentiful
His desire and attraction is you?
How do you avoid
The power in his words?
Or the intensity of his stare
As his eyes admire your every curve?
Can you deny him the simplicity of your words?
Could you deprive him of the mystery
that you preserve?
In you can he find reason to begin
To let down all guard
And thaw from within?

A Story

By: "Show" Biz

Peninsula prison sat in front of a long strip of water. From a distance it looked as if it was sitting on top of water. Hence the name Peninsula prison. The rust colored watchtowers made the jail look devious. The prison held around 750 inmates. Today was the last for one in particular.

S.B. laid on his bunk thinking about all the plans he had conjured up. Unfortunately for him this wasn't his first sentence. The last time he served a ten suspended after a four year sentence. This time he caught a 12 year flat sentence. After his first bid. the felt compelled to try and take the streets over to no avail. It was like a light turned on in his head that it was time for a change. This time it was by any right means necessary. While being incarcerated, S.B. found what he was good at, it was writing. He just loved to write. Whether it was poems, music, letters, or even books, he never hesitated to pick up a pen and write his thoughts.

On this night it was a little different, it was his last. All the plans he set up was ready to go into motion. To ease some of the anxiety and anticipation of finally being released. S.B. decided to do what he did best, write his thoughts down.

While S.B. got off his bunk, his cellmate said "I know your not pulling that composition out again. You go home tomorrow." Mike was similar to S.B. when he got his first sentence. He tried to talk to Mike about life and what being a man is , but Mike was stuck in his ways. S.B. just laughed it off and continued to his writing. He had to have ripped up at least three pages up before the juices started to flow....

I (do) think about the underprivileged kids down without a sentence
Saying prayers everyday but carry a non religious.
They don't have a friend to listen, now they got martyr thoughts.
Movie theater, Sandy Hook, Boston Mass, Manhattan
Why should I save the lost word of a broken heart
Knowing they situation
Everyday life is hard
I just want to talk to em sit em down
Learn em something
Show em how without a pill they can get pass the huntin
First you have to put the work in learn off experience
Don't detour ya ambition
Use your perseverance
Status isn't clearances when you dealing with a higher grade
You can be enlisted and still be considered slaves
Make difference never waiver
Uplift a dying soul
Always plan A's and B's
Easily you'll reach your goals.

The sound of the cell door popping knocked S.B. out of his zone. It was that time to bring his property down to A.P.. In a few hours he will be a free man. When S.B. finally made out the gates, he turned and said "I'll never come back to this again. What do you think?

Broken

By: H.B.

I was raised in a dysfunctional family...
So it's safe to say I was born broken
I am where I am from...
So the truth was spoken firmly
When i say I am the streets.
I am anger, I am pain
I am heartache, I am shame
I am broken...
Too destroyed to fix, too hurt too hate
And too tired to endure the wait
You discarded me battered
She acquired me broken
I entered this world bruised and bloody
Too dependent on consistent pain
It seems to me as if fate has spoken
She discarded me battered
You acquired me broken
I entered this world bloody and bruised
So as the cycle continues to mingle and fuse
Beware of a heart that will rarely open
And remember that I told you...
I was born broken!!!

Looks are deceiving

Gentlemen style, freedom haven't seen in a while
Put on my suit and tie take a look at me now
Girls lookin like look at Quay, he amazing
Dark hair cut, 360 waves in it.
Can't change me, this who I am, my life ain't got no remote
Happy my mother still here, after them two strokes
Enjoy life, where i am at, it ain't even fair
Rikers Island gettin paid for me bein here.
Do wat chu want, don't let nobody control you
That will open a door, you tryna go through.

No More Zoos

Submitted by: Dr. Giraff
Written by: Sally the Seal

The zoo keeper watches the gate

He stands firm and tall with plans to await.
The biggest threat coming from near and far.
They prohibit the animals from opening their minds and leaving the door ajar
Its his job to watch, listen and wait
To process the transition at those that escape.
The up building of the body,
The freedom, solace and future success
The escape of a life of havoc and mess
Its the goal of the zoo keeper to keep the zoo together,
Whether or not the animals care.
But as a human I dare to compare and declare
That I am free, free to be me, even if I'm in the inside, I will not hide.
Nor will I deny, that I have the ability to change and grow because only God know what the future holds, for all of us
So called Animals.

Guess Who & Guess What

Yes fellow observers its me "Dr. Giraff" the founder of the Zoo. I sincerely apologize for not writing sooner, but so much has been going on and now I'll fill you in.

Thanks to our friends at Bronx Defenders, my lawyer Ms. Mar and a great Social Worker Ms. Harris I am in a substance abuse program. Yes its true I was in jail due to some poor judgement calls. Some of you may say "WOW a doctor in jail?" Well actually I'm a self- proclaimed doctor.

This simply means I was tired of my lifestyle so I decided to work on a cure. So I spoke to my lawyer, Social Worker and judge. Thankfully they worked with me and now I'm working on myself through a process called recovery.

We all make mistakes, but once you fall its about how you get up. Being a Giraff its a little difficult getting back up on all four legs.

However I am not giving up. It all started in the jungle. Not doing anything constructing or dealing with growth caused me to chose negative stuff.

Not only did I end up using drugs I also tried to sell drugs. This dragged me through the mud. A lot of other animals stayed away from me. My family stopped seeing me, they are hard working people so they wouldn't come to my neck of the woods.

Then I got arrested, that's where I came up with the idea to change. Being locked up felt awful, not being able to see family and friends, not being in control of my life.

No eating, the lovely trees, roaming and looking around as I please. Instead I was locked in a building only able to eat what they gave me leaving plenty of time to think about change. Now I am working on my true thinking I'm making changes and growing. I'll share a lot more with you all please check in on me weekly I have a lot to share.

Last Words

By: Cipher16

Take me away from this place thus I have only brought pain,
Take me away from the species I have only shown shame,
Lift me from my feet for they are not lined with grains of a beach,
Object me from my siblings cause I have no reason to teach,
Remove me from my future bringing because it only screams defeat,
Separate me from loved ones cause I want them no longer to weep,
My goals are false my road is lost the price of life than has no cost...
I just wanna be successful before they close the coffin.

D.A.D & S.O.N

To: My Distant. Astray. Donor
From: Your Sort. of. Nothing
By: Cipher16

Even though we have met I never really saw you, picked up the phone but I never meant to call you...Dad...This can't be a loss cause times we never had, when I sought joy you only made me mad...Daddy, Dad, Father, Pops are the terms people use. But no energy between socket & plug who blew the fuse?...Intensity strong enough to break bones. A broken glass house resembles a relationship that no one knows, success I could not be you subliminally told me...Only a failure I am to you, a father? yea right! You are a phony, don't leave yet I have only begun, Hey! Here are some reasons I can't be your son, when I needed you the most you were never there even when I did good your sorry ass never cared...me being your first born never showed meaning, you treated me like Satan's spawn so the first time you turned your back on me I knew that you mean it...This is only an excerpt don't think that I am done. In conclusion of these episodes of someone's distant astray donor to a sort of nothing. You are a great D.A.D & I'm glad to be your S.O.N.

Window Pains

By: Cipher16

No way out one way in, windows to the soul starts closing, wishing you would have knew before you started knowing...That the rain on the window resembles the pain accumulating slowly, tears from the those tares the soul until all fears grow, notice the wins count your losses guarantee you see your reflection reflects your eyes faucets, dust particles left from skeletons in the closet, this is the pains your window show...The lame saying life is a game becomes unnoticed since there aren't ant pause, restart, extra men to get back with 25 cents, how can that make sense when all battles with the gavel leads to our brothers in shackles, seeing is believing so believe when you see me I'm damaged from my windows scenery, no prosperity or sincerely's daring dangers daily exclude me rarely, caring gestures fool only those who believe in fairy's, clearly we need some clarity in order to see things for what they are and not what they appear to be...Just hope it's something your soul is prepared to see.
                                                                     PEACE!

"A Destructive Destiny"

My destiny is also my destruction
The abductor of a heart
The destroyer of a soul
The possessor of my thoughts, dreams & hopes
The beneficiary of my love
A fortune in which she has gained
The protector of my pain
For in my hurt she seeks revenge
The torcherer of a man condemned
Her tools are silence & neglect
A loan shark of superficial emotions
Who sees past mistakes as a form of debt
And despite my attempts to make amends
She has finally decided to come and collect

Distorted Emotions

By: H.B L
6.17.13

Versatile in my ability to feel.
Is it real?
So many different levels of joy and pain/
Does it sustain or support?
The love that I so deeply sought?
Can I maintain with such an emotional boulder?
Is it worth the effort?
These feelings that I shoulder?
Am I able to smother this eternal flame?
For events in which I am partially to blame?
How do I begin to heal?
When my heart continues to feel?
and in return continues to break.
Is it that I have earned such a miserable fate?
Do I not possess the will,
To control the things I feel?
Has the picture been previously painted?
Of a destiny so distinctively tainted?
As a man my world continues to be torn,
Yet in love my heart continues to be born.
Making happily ever after a far too distant notion,
Unable to fully blossom due to distorted emotions!

Tears

By: H.B L
6.15.13

Rain, produced by emotional clouds,
From deep within your soul.
A symbol of pain, sadness, and shame.
And from the very start,
A grand tribute, or a broken heart.
A way of mourning what was lost,
A form of release, that doesn't cost.
The trademark, of a battered soul,
A brave heart, now just an open hole.
Constant tears intensify the pain,
Alone with fears, that I am reluctant to tame.
Still I don't judge,
Or hold a grudge,
Mine is a true love, it doesn't budge.
Yet do I retreat, and except defeat?
Because deep within, your love is weak?
Before my eyes, flash all that I fear
The sight of me losing, what I hold most dear
Yet in the end I find the release I seek
In an abundance of tears, parading down my cheeks!

"Hey There Delilah" Parody

By: Wonders aka JRR

Hey there Delilah
what's it like in Albion Correctional Facility
You're 200 miles away but girl
tonight you look so pretty yes you do
Razor wire can't shine as bright as you
this one's for you...
Ooh it's what you do to me (x4)
Upstate New York seems pretty far
but there's free buses, trains and cars
I'd walk to you if I had no other way
Hey there Delilah I've got so much left to say
if every single letter I wrote to you
would take your breath away I'd write it all
Anymore in love with me you'd fall, we'd have it all
Ooh it's what you do to me (x4)
Hey there Delilah I know times are getting hard
but just believe me girl I swear this year
you'll make your initial board, we'll have it good
We'll have the life we knew we would
my word is a good.
Ooh it's what you do to me (x4)
Upstate New York seems pretty far but there's. free buses, train and cars
I'd walk to visit if I had no other way.
Our friends will all make fun of us
and we'll just laugh along because
we know that none of them have felt this way.
Delilah I can promise you that by the time
your bid is through, the world will never ever be the same
and you're to blame for catchin' this case.
Ooh it's what you do to me (x3)
Hey there Delilah you be good and
don't get any disciplinary
2 more years and you'll be on parole
and I'll be making history like I should
We can do whatever we want to
Hey there Delilah here's to you
this one's for you.
Ooh it's what you do to me...

Hold Me Down

By: Wonders aka JRR

While I'm gone and locked away
Keep my feet on solid ground
and promise you won't turn away
Hold me down
Baby I've been around
and around and around
I'm dizzy and my bone ache
too many sleepless nights turned into sleepless days
spent running away
from past mistakes
Hold me down
'Cause I can't go through this shit alone
Please just hold me down
'Cause I won't make it on my own
Hold me down
until I come home to stay
Keep my feet on solid ground
And baby please
Don't turn
Away

Prison Is

By: Wonders aka JRR

Prison is:
Long days and long nights
It's all about what you got, right?
Packages and full buys, or so and so's wife
talkin' 'bout she ain't got shit
that bum bitch
fuckin' for chicken and rice
Well, I haven't got a poptart to my name
But I'll still be alright
Cuz at the end of the day
this may be what you call life
but when I go home I've got
real things to do with mine
isn;t this your 2nd or 3rd bid?
Prolly cuz you never learned shit.
Just came right back
as a P.V. or a new Din
you need to take this time
to learn what it is
to be a better person
and an actual mom to your kids
instead of walkin' around
Like this is home
and "Oh well. It is what it is."
caught up on packages
or cookin' that and this
and gossipin' 'bout what they did
and she did this
but you just ate with them
cuz your fake ass shit
actin' like you're in here doin' big things
but the truth of it is
without your fam you wouldn't have
a fucking pot to hold piss
you're not the reason that you're comfortable
you just front like it is
you're ignorant...
If your man can pass as your grandad
call is what it is--he's a trick
who're you tryin' to kid?
if any of this hit home
you should really look at why that is.
So get it together now
it's time to grow up.
I leave this September.
You leave in 2000 and what?

Sisters of 2 Mother

By: Cipher16

Whenever mother wasn't there
they console and hold each other close in fear,
of receiving meaningless beatings that seem endless
when this lady appears glassy eyed stares
and aggressive excessive grasping of the hair,
Dare to tear begging their bodies not to let their nostrils flare
knowing there are wire hangers on the stove waiting sare,
once radiant looks now resemble timid glares
wardrobes appear as winter or autumn all year,
Long sleeves and tissue packed pockets to stop the nosebleeds
heart filled with issues, kid games they did not play
so worried that sweat would smear their make-up and reveal guts full of hatred...
thoughts to despair,
notice as this pair dwindles emotionally detached
trying their hardest to rekindle their mental
the type of life no 11-year-olds should view,
Living arrangements drastic
suddenly becoming immune to being battered...
on the way to school the next day like nothing ever happened,
Bell rang around 3
as they grab their backpacks hoping when they reach home it is momma they see,
Momma was always good to Bri great to Tee...
Never wanted momma to leave,
As momma get dressed
the twins start getting depressed
as long as momma's around the twins get love and respect,
Then the lady appears
they immediately draw tears...
Run to the corner hit the floor in fetal position
it's been like this for the last few years,
Respect is not expected to receive peace and happiness
thoughts get ejected being fed mental poison...
By 13 never hesitant to let the boys in,
Momma overdosed never saw the pose
funeral home requested the coffin close
No feelings for this lady so no need to console,
She left them triple damaged
mind, body, and soul.

Another One of the Greats

By: Chinese Raccoon Dog

The Schomburg Center's founder Arturo Alfonso Schomburg was born in Puerto Rico on Jan. 24, 1874.  Schomburg, who came to New York in 1891, was a bibliophile, writer, and a key intellectual figure in the Harlem Renaissance.  He spent his life championing and preserving black history.  The New York public library purchased his vast collection in 1926.  The Schomburg Center is now home to more than 10 million items.

Happy Mothers' Day

By: Chinese Raccoon Dog

 Happy Mothers Day

Dear Mom,

There's really no words to express to you on this very day how thankful I am for making me the strong man I am today.

From an infant 'til now, you fed me nothing but knowledge so sweet it'll decay anything in its way except my teeth.

So here on this very special day I would like to grant you the golden #1 Mom award, that no money in this world can afford.

I think back...I did the craziest things when I was bored, but you definitely found many ways to use that extension cord (smile).

See you gave me something my ass couldn't cash, but I guess I was getting too big for my britches as they said in the past.

But as I grew older and now going through life obstacles, I see now why you gave me all those very important tasks, to get me through life challenges and golden rules.

So with these few words I give to you today, love you, bless you, and Happy Mothers' Day.

"I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I'm not..."

DR. MURIEL PETIONI

"Dr. Muriel Marjorie is remembered by all she served.  Both famous as well as the unknown thousands of patients in the Harlem community of West 131st.  It was the same address her father Dr. Charles Petioni used in the late 1920's.  She began charging $2.00 for an office visit and $3.00 for a home visit.  She earned the name "Mother of Medicine" in Harlem.  No matter what epidemic hit Harlem (heroin, cocaine, crack), Dr. Petioni met the challenges.  Dr. Petioni was among the African American drs given full staff privileges.  Dr. Petioni was born 01/01/1914 in Trinidad and passed at age 97!

And will be missed and remembered by all she touched :-)!"

Man Pledge

By: Chinese Raccoon Dog

Man Pledge

"Prelude
We were born males not men.  We will become men when we learn the art and science of manhood.

Pledge
We vow to work to become men, to leave childhood, boyhood behind us.
We vow to seek knowledge of the best way to relate to ourselves to our Almighty, to our families, and to the community.
We vow to now, to seek answers to, who we were, who we are, and know where we're going.
We vow to be the positive example of manhood, and brotherhood, to be a brother to the community and institutions to which we belong.
We vow to work to make the place where we are better than the way we found it.
We vow to develop ourselves to save lives, not to take lives.
We will provide, protect and secure life.
We will be constructive, not destructive.
We vow to live the seven (R's) of righteousness, respect, responsibility, restraint, reciprocity, rhythm, and redemption."

Untitled

By: The Lucky Starfish

Peace Everybody!

My name is "The Lucky Starfish." I am the newest member of "the zoo," and I came to share some of my ideas about making a better world.  I have never participated in this blog before and I admit, I am a little shy, but once I get started, I will keep it official!

My zodiac sign is Aquarius.  That means I am eccentric. I have a style that is totally all my own and I like to share what I know.  If it is possible, maybe you should use a dictionary if you see me use a word that you're not familiar with.  I like for my descriptions to be descriptive and my specifications to be specific.  It only gets better.

My thoughts are unique and I hope to teach those who are receptive to good advice and basically knowledge itself.  I have the ability to teach a "grown up" as simple as I can teach "a child."  I'm friendly, honest and very patient.  Other than a teacher, the "Lucky Starfish" is a good friend.  So, when I come back, which should be soon, I should have some thought provoking stuff to tell you that you can take and run with for the rest of your life.  I plan on being here for the long run.  Take care and don't forget to look for the "Lucky Starfish."

Peace.

The Zoo

By: The Lucky Starfish

Dear Readers,

I hope by the time that this reaches you that everyone is in the best of health and you are all feeling good about who you are.  I'm doing OK, deep down in the depths of the waters...just going with the flow...if you know what I mean.

Of course, as you may already know, I'm the Lucky Starfish!  I joined "the zoo" not too long ago and I'm back again to explain why I'm so luck. OK?

First of all, No other sea animals caused any harm to my body.  I still have all 5 points of my star-shaped body.  My arm, leg, leg, my other arm and my head.  Sharks and whales don't like me too much but I don't care.  Plus, I'm lucky because I find money and other great stuff down here all the time.  I'm pretty much "laid back" and I observe a lot of action.  If you never wished upon a star, well, maybe you should just take a chance.  It may bring you some luck too!

A 5 pointed star is a very interesting and unique shape.  There are 72 degrees from point to point.  So, 5 x 72 = what? 360 degrees.  That is actually a circle.  There are other significant meanings of the 5 points of a star that I will mention in future writings so, I'm going to apologize now if you think that I am only spoon-feeding you for the time being.  I was just giving you a fun fact for now.

Other than that people, I enjoy reading all kinds of magazines, watching television, I like nature and all kinds of animals and I love to cook all types of food.  so, until next time my friends.  I'm sending you all my respect and admiration from the zoo.  And you can see me at the Aquarium too.  In real life!

So long folks!

If You Love Me Save Me
By: Sica

Somebody
Save me.
Indirect S.O.S.,
A wolf needs to stretch his legs,
A phoenix blood immortal, needs no
morning rest.
A warlox's mind trapped between
leaded walls,
telepathy signals weak,
somebody open the doors,
so to speak,
take me wherever it be,
cherish to be lost.
Everyday,
I stare at the eastern sky,
are you there,
with your hands reaching out to me,
or
are you floating on the water,
waiting for me so we can drift away,
somebody has to be in the fog to save me
camouflaged with the rain.

If you love me
Save me

The Witching Seconds, Save
By: Sica

Maybe I should hocus-pocus,
and watch the doors open,
Because I'm trapped,
and it's a wrap,
You've upset my lord,
and he's awoken.
I've tried to save as many lives as I could,
now the seals have broken,
I've told you this will come many times,
Through the mind we have spoken.
You do not know who I am,
yet you can feel my power,
for everyone of me is lost,
2 rise the next hour.
2 because a Libra,
watch it my people see ya,
They near ya,
Closer than you think,
so close
I can count every time you've blinked.
My ancestors have come along way,
cause storms to decoy
How i'll be saved,
everything gets delayed.
My knowledge has been limited,
but you will witness my power the rest of y'all days.

I Know I Ain't Blind
By: Sica

Manhattan's underwater,
Queen's is on fire,
Power lines are down,
There's no gas causing riots.
Jails are locked down, inmates stuck and
worried,
The first storm was painful,
Now a second storm is coming.
Wow,
Look at everybody now,
Everybody's praying and God's nowhere
to be found.
No shower in weeks,
Tap water's contaminated,
Stock markets crashing,
Who cares about graduation,
School's have been closed,
People lost all their clothes,
There's nothing else to do but spend money,
drink, and smoke.
The Hudson River overflowed, and I saw
car floats,
I thought I was high, pinched myself, it
ain't a joke.
I saw the towers fall, I was ten blocks
away,
It seems like the demolition team was trained.

Excerpt from a poem called "Illumanti"
By: The Goat

It's not hard to see the change
When you're looking long range -- they made in the years of 2G
The head of State
Depicted out fate -- through the reins of ILLUMANTI
From our slave days, up until these common day ways (e.g...Locked up in a steel cage)
But, we're about to hit the next phase, so don't be Amazed --
...Just do the knowledge
The constitution laws will be abolished
Family structures demolished
So now it's time to polish up your Act
If you lack any Facts about this subject
Don't get Upset, just read about it, cause it's in effect
And I bet, you won't believe it, if you're not able to see it
But it's too late
It's already here, no time to fear
The human race fate
Don't believe me if you want to, But I'm here to warn you
They're trying to put the BAR CODE on you
In fact, it began -- that every woman and man
Get a number put under their skin
And then accepted in, a new society
It's a secret, so they lied to me
I had to be, Thirsty for this knowledge to get it
But never ask OBAMA this, because he won't admit it
Acquitted of perjury, Silently,
They're trying to MURDER me & YOU
So I came to tell you what we've got to do
We got to put our heads together, Never go against each other
And love one another, As sisters & brothers
Then let us discover together, the Answers
With the Help of our Almighty Master
How to beat this internal Cancer
That these 'SUPER POWER' groups, have implemented
because they're winning
But to our disadvantage, this is only the beginning
And We're in trouble if WE KEEP Sinning.
Moving in this new millennium that's coming in beyond
2010!
...To be continued...

What's After This?
By: N.C.

I often wonder what's next,
when I close my eyes take my last breath,
when my heart stops beating lungs stop breathing,
What's gonna happen after death,
Physically, I know what happens,
My skin gets cold and my bowel's let go,
The muscles in my body tighten but after that
that's all I know,
What's gonna happen here on earth,
Who's gonna smile, who's gonna cry,
Who's gonna say "that's good for him",
Who's gonna say "damn why'd he die",
It really makes no difference whether I'm
turned to ash or simply buried,
But where's my body gonna go,
To the crematorium or the cemetery,
I'm just curious I want to know,
Put in a vin or in the dirt,
I'd like also like to know if I died quickly
or did it hurt,
And how's it gonna happen,
A heart attack or in a car,
or something violent like gunshot wounds,
or getting stabbed on my block 183 & Davidson Ave.,
But even more I want to know what's
gonna happen to my soul,
Nothing else really matters,
Not cremation or a dirt filled hole,
Will my spirit slowly rise until I see those
pearly gates,
Where everything is peaceful,
And all the ones I've lost await,
Up in heaven where its always sunny,
It's never cloudy there's never rain,
Where everyone is always happy,
There's no more problems no more pain,
I might be wrong and take a plunge,
Down to hell where it's always hot,
It's where I'll be for eternity,
Where pain and torment is all I got,
The devil's waiting and he gets to laugh,
I see the fire and I start to scream,
The fire's burning, I try to wake up,
I can't wake up, it's not a dream,
That thought there scares me,
I've done bad things in my life,
I've done much sinning and seen my death 5 times,
In my heart there's good and evil but the
evil side would wind up winning,
So now I wonder what's gonna happen,
Where will I go when I leave earth,
I'm so anxious I want to know,
Will things be better- will things be worse,
But there's no rush I'll get my answer,
Everyone of us one day dies,
And I hear that GOD's full of forgiveness,
So all I can do is pray for mine.

It's Now Too Late
By: N.C.

Even though I never said it and I hardly
ever hugged you,
Even though we weren't close I hope you
know I loved you,
When you came home in 1981 I know you
tried to finally be a father,
But I never gave you the chance that's
why right now I feel so bad,
When I saw you in the casket in 1994
my heart and soul were filled with pain,
you tried your hardest- I hardly tried,
I'll live with that always in shame,
I wish that things were different and we'd
got to know each other,
We could of been the best father and son,
but that's not how it happen we weren't
talking before you died,
I don't blame you I blame myself I wasn't
trying when you tried,
And when I tried I tried too late you were
back using drugs and back sticking up stores,
I wish I would've took the chance to feel my dad's love,
I'm sorry that I hurt you when all
you wanted was to love me,
I'm sorry that I walked away the last
time you tried to hug me,
I'll never get that chance again dad,
I had it once but let it go,
I made my choice and I regret it now,
more then you'll ever know.

R.I.P.
Dad

Them and Their Crew
By N.C.

I hear when they call me,
They know me by name,
They know what I like and what causes me pain,
They know what I fear and what makes me scared,
They make me feel brave and fully prepared,
They make me feel confident whenever I use them,
They like pain and abuse- they let me abuse them,
They give me false hope when the money is low,
They leave me dead broke that's just how it goes,
They say the right things whenever I hear them,
They send chills through my body whenever I hear them,
They've known me for years since 1987,
They act like they love me even call me their son,
They say they won't hurt me but I know that's a lie,
They killed me mother in 2000 and that made me cry,
They do what they wanna, they not scared of the cops,
They have many names they're the meanest of thugs,
They run with a crew and their crew is called
CRACK...

You are not Blind?
By: Sica

Take time out
To observe there's a coming wipe out
Are you reserved for heaven
Are you preserved to stand
Do you underestimate this man
Just look at the clouds
You don't know what's in the quiet
Because you always in the loud
Work got you caught up
God got me patient
You don't like what I'm saying
You yelling out "sedate him"
I got some publicity now
And you still don't feel what's coming around
You ain't prepared
Ghetto gospel
Minions running 'round scared
You still behind your computer
Stuck in your chains
You not suppose to know what's going on
Only feel the air
You can't see it
God had hidden me
Only revealed in light to broadcast dark secrets
So I'm stuck in a cell
Writing and reading books gaining power
You are not blind
Remember that every hour!

Cause it may be your last!!

Tell Me, What Would You Do?
By: Sica

I know you ain't the type to go steal and rob-
but nobody's hiring and you just lost your job.
Most of your friends strangely in jail,
many when they send you mail,
it's so bad that when you open the envelope it smells like cells.
You don't want to live in the streets-
but, to live you need money, or die hungry,
the shelters ain't no better,
at night you crying saying, "why they took everything from me?"

Now,
tell me, what would you do in these situations,
your kids are bored,
and running away is like a vacation.

Now,
tell me, and be honest
What would you do-
if you found yourself turning into a prostitute,
and you use to be a hard working woman,
or a man,
but, you rolled bad luck
into the dices in your hand.
So remember who your friends are
when you laughing with each other,
cause one day you might find yourself strangling
each other.
What would you do-
when it's you against the world,
whether you being a boy or girl.

A King Needs A Queen
By: Sica

I just want only one girl to truly love,
get married,
be really happy,
with loyalty and trust.
To know me is to know that you can faint
from a kiss,
to melt in my arms.
when you feel my lips.
True love does exist,
but I don't know where she's at,
I wonder what she is doing at this moment in fact,
is she thinking 'bout me?
But doesn't know that I'm the one,
want you to sleep to my chest til the rising sun.
I need a woman with no kids so we can start a
family,
because I don't have any kids so we both can live
happily.
I wanta be a daddy,
and someone to be a mommy,
someone to help me with my ties,
because sometimes I make 'em sloppy,
trying to rush to work.
Love at first sight,
now it's til dealth do us part,
sometimes we find true love,
through a rough start.
